Participatory budgeting: Engaging citizens in decision making

Read this in Romanian or in Dutch.

Participatory budgeting is a form of citizen participation where citizens are involved in the process of deciding how public money is spent. Local people are often given a role in the scrutiny and monitoring of the process following the allocation of budgets.

DEMOTEC investigates the role of participatory budgeting in fostering greater and more informed citizen participation in policy-making and in engaging citizens who feel disconnected from political and policy processes.
